When you look at SS/DX (Super Stock) Drag Racing you always think of either Big Block Powered Camaro’s or G Body GM cars. Then you see plenty of Fox Body Ford and other Fomoco products with plenty of Mopars and an ocasional AMC product like an AMX or something like that in the ranks.

That was until now cause the new Record Holder is Carey Bales in a HONDA S2000 with a 7.923@174.39mph 😯

This was accomplished with a Turbo yes but it is using the 4 cylinder block that came with the car along with the crankshaft in a unported cylinder head 😈 An AEM ECU along with AEM 4 channel Wideband and 4 channel EGT sensors to keep track on what is happening in the F22c 2.2 Honda engine. The Turbo feeding it is an Airwerks by Borg Warner 80mm S400sx with (2) Tial MV-S wastegates and a Tial Q 50mm blow off valve. This engine is pushing 1100 Horsepower at this point with NO Nitrous Oxide at all. Even better is this is being accomplished with a stock un-tubbed chassis! Using a Custom bolt in 4-link, ford 9″ and Santhuff’s bolt in shocks plus the stock front suspension. So the S2000 body is not modified or tubbed and is only running a 26″x10 tire to accomplish this feat!

Now that I have seen this car pulling some incredible times it makes me want my original S2000 back 🙁 Had a 2001 S2K with the 2000 Cubic Centimeter engine that had the nice 9000 RPM redline. Used to scare the crap out of people when I took them out for a thrill ride in it. Only problem is it still seemed to need a bit more power than it had. Yes the sound was great at the top end of the red line and all however with the top down you lost a lot of the should 😛 If I could have boosted it like this one then things would have been completely different 😈
