This car also spent some 20 odd years in swampy Pole Barn storage. Again the owner used to buy cars that he found insteresting such as this Desoto but this one didn’t need to be restored this time. No it was a fairly nice car but I guess you could detail it and do some touch ups if you wanna call that restoring it?

Still, it sat in a damp barn and seized on up like half the cars in the barn. I have seen pretty much all the cars and some just started up with a shot of starting fluid so I’m not sure what circumstances are needed to get and engine to seize from rust? I mean there was a 85′ 442 with a Small Block and that was behind this car. So you would have to think it sat as long or longer but, it started right up with a battery and a shot of starter fluid.

Any way you want to look at it after the heads had been taken off and all tries to get the engine to turn were exhausted some secret fluid (Phosphoric Acid) was dumped in the cylinders. I doubted this engine was ever going to run again but, thanks to some experimentation by the mechanic on duty I was proven wrong. I started the shop term of (Naysayer) meaning it will never run again sorta. I was proven wrong none the less and now it is a shop slang. So after that, the engine spun over and the heads were put back on. At the end of the video it is running dead smooth and to my amazement, it didn’t smoke at all. It’s able to be shut off and started right back up with no issues.
