Insane 605 Cubic Inch Road Runner on the Pre Lead East Burnout Slab

So years ago I was asked if I wanted to go to the Pre Lead East show in Boonton NJ. Even though it is pretty much a place for everyone to go and get drunk at I decided to go anyway. Figured there was gonna be some cool old custom cars there to check out if anything 😕

Well yeah there was a ton of Lead Sled and Phone Booth T’s along with some of the old Munsters cars with Eddie Munster signing autographs over in a garage. Not all that much I was interested in until I was told about the Burnout Pad. Basically it is what it sounds like, a pad of cement that cars drive on and see how bad they can burn the tires pretty much.

So after seeing some cars with stock style engines do some burnouts I see this off in the distance rumbling up to the line. It was hard to see as it’s Black but, you could hear it rumbling on up to the pad. Then the rumors about a 605 cubic inch Hemi in some Roadrunner was here 😯

So cool I gotta get set up to see what this thing can do to the tires right 🙂

Wrong…OK, it is an impressive engine but, the tires must have been dry rotted or something cause they just would not get any smoke boiling off of them 🙁 I mean the Dominator Carbs were definitely pouring enough fuel into the engine as can be seen when it catches the grass on fire.

However, it just couldn’t light those tires up for some reason? I mean it’s a heavy enough car and I have seen the car at Englishtown before on the Strip being shown off at the Swap Meet. It just didn’t seem to have what you thought it woulda had 🙄
