Buick Straight 8 with Dynaflow trans
Buick Straight 8 with Dynaflow trans
So in this day and age what would be the last engine you would think about seeing laying around a shop? Yeah you may think a Flat Head Ford V8 but this are actually a bit common from what I have been running into lately. Nope this Straight 8 Buick engine attached to a Dynaflow transmission was the oddball of the day at this dealership at least.
Would look real cool in a rat rod or something to that extent but not much else I can think of to do with a Straight 8. At least that’s my thought.
As it turns out the car that this engine came form is on this sight as a Crushed Buick. It was a nice solid car that had been stored in a garage or Barn for quite some time but, one of the Hurricanes that hit New Jersey took it out by landing a tree on the place it was parked in.
It was then heard about and purchased by this dealership. However it proved to be beyond repair as the amount of money it would have cost to repair it would outweigh it’s actual selling price. So the car was kept around for a while as the chrome was thought to be useful for another Buick that the shop had in possession.
Eventually it was thought to take the Straight 8 and Dynaflow trans out for a few reasons. The mechanic on duty was a bit of a yahoo and it took him quite a while to get the car apart. Just one of the reasons he no longer works there. So the engine sat for a while in this video sitting on the shop floor taking up space for the most part. It was eventually sold to someone that was building a Rat Rod and this was the perfect engine for just that 🙂
