Restoring a Crude Chop Top 1951 Buick to normal

Well in my blog I have an original Straight Eight with a Dynaflow trans sitting in the shop ready for a street rod/Rat Rod or another Buick in need?

So this is the vehicle that said Straight Eight came from. It was a solid car that sat in a Barn or Garage for quite some time. Then one of the many Hurricanes that had hit New Jersey did it in as a tree crushed it. I also said it would be a loss situation if it was thought to repair the rood to resell the car.

With the amount of money it would cost to do the repairs correctly it would not be able to be sold for enough money to recoup the costs of the repairs 🙁 Hate to see a car that could be nice once again have to be cut up for parts.

So what chrome could be salvaged was taken off of the car along with the front fenders as they are pretty solid. Some other parts such as the fuel tank were good and some other pieces here and there. The main thing that was worth anything was the Straight Eight with it’s Dynaflow trans. Then another piece was the radiator as that is a big old piece of the car. You could get a pretty penny for a radiator like that at a scrap yard but then you would have to spend an even bigger fortune to replace it 😯

So the drive train was the major score from this crushed Buick that never knew what hit it. Matter of fact I do believe I just saw the front fenders from this car sitting in back of the shop. we moved them outside to get some space in the garage but, they are very straight and solid for when we need a set if we get another Buick that is hit up front 🙁
