1956 Ford Thunderbird
This 1956 Ford Thunderbird was found in the middle of a restoration that was abandoned decades ago.

The engine was rebuilt and never fully assembled with all the parts being put in bins. Then all the stuff sat for around 20 or so years until it was all sold off to us.

It was and is now once again for sale at the moment that I took this video years ago. However it was sold off and is no longer available now.

Aside from the movie “American Graffiti” bringing quite a bit of fame to this car I never fully understood it’s popularity? Yes it was a V8 although it was a Y Block making it a rather lame V8 for that matter. Also it was a coupe in the early years like a Corvette at the time but, the Thunderbird was not that performance orientated like the Corvette.
Matter of fact you do not see many Gasser Thunderbirds like you do older Corvettes. Makes you wonder at that point why. Also I do have a video of a Kit Thunderbird that drag races so there are people out there that like them enough to make them into a race car!

so what do you think would you restore this car back to original. Or would you make a hot rod out of it using the Y-Block, or swap in the MOD motor or worse yet an LS swap? That would really piss off Ford purists doing something like the GM Engine and hallowed Thunderbird! Of course would make it a lot faster more usable and get good gas mileage at the same time. Something that will not happen with most of the fort engines except maybe a MOD. What do you think should happen?
